Subject: SYSCON Error "Program too big to fit into memory"
Date: October 2, 1990
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
PROBLEM: Using the following configuration:
Wang DOS v3.30.10
Environment space at 400 or 1024
Loading the Token-Ring .SYS files from the CONFIG.SYS
the customer gets the error "Program to big to fit in
memory" when loading SYSCON from the A: prompt.
If he goes to a subdirectory on the a drive and types SYSCON
it comes up just fine. If he changes to the root of A (A:\)
and types SYSCON, the above error appears. Increasing or
decreasing the environment space does not help. PCONSOLE
and other utilities work fine when loading at the root of A.
We tried this with and without the AUTOEXEC.BAT file that
had the prompt statement and a path statement. There was no
change. We could not recreate the problem on a workstation
in the lab.
SOLUTION: We suspect the Wang DOS was causing it. The customer may
need to try PC DOS.
